    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

I knew that due to the International Date Line, everything happens in Australia earlier than here, but isn't the year calendar supposed to be the same everywhere?

Just like cars, the "model year" keeps getting earlier and earlier to try to capture a little more early demand.

The weird thing is, in coins usually OLDER coins are more desired than younger ones. Eh, it is what it is.

Personally, I don't mind. I like having something new to buy when I get the urge. It helps relieve the end of the year "lack of product" blahs. Just my preference though.

The US Mint need to get their ass in gear. What is happening with the US mint are very very limited supplies of Bullion or type coins and they sell out like wildfire. Just recently the new Gold liberty coin from last year that sold out they issued a Silver version of 12,500 or something and it sold out in 5 minutes. Yeah that is really fun when you have the big Goober buy the coins faster then you can admire them.

The Perth Mint has done this type of early release (i.e. a 2017 coin in 2016) for a while. Part of it has to do with people buying these as gifts/keepsakes for the Chinese New Year (so buyers have plenty of time to purchase before the event happens).

I'm also a big fan of the lunar series. It is one of my favorite bullion (semi-numismatic series). The designs tend to be good and the coins usually retain their premiums or even go up compared to ASEs/Maples (although that is not the case at your local coin store).
