    1982 Clad Quarter No edge and Leafs dont reach Eagle Wings (Back).jpg 1982 Clad Quarter No edge and Leafs dont reach Eagle Wings (Front).jpg

    This 1982 Quarter has a few odd things about it
    1. it is completely smooth around edges, no ripples
    2 on the back above quarter dollar the leaf does not seem to go as far as other quarters like overlapping the wings.

    Any info would be greatly appreciated, I can get a Pic later of the Edge to show

    @Markm84 Welcome to CoinTalk

    What you have found is a counterfeit quarter. It is a fake.
    It is not a Type 2. It is not clad. It is not an error/variety :yack:

    I metal detected one a few years ago.

    And my pictures

    The edge on a true quarter is called reeds. Not a reeded edge on this fake.

    Nobody really knows. But if you Google 1982 D counterfeit quarter you will find more pictures and information on the topic. Other forums also talk about it.

    As said, definitely a fake. The coin doesn't match any of the details of a mint struck quarter.
