Hello Everyone. I had this same post in the "Coin Chat" forum and did not get the right amount of information I was hoping for. I am hoping that having it in the "Bullion Investing" forum will help. I have an old 5-oz .999 Fine SilverTowne bar that I am looking to get more information on. The bar I have is show below with Serial #00742. Using a dial caliper, I get a measurement of approximately 2"x7/8" (50.8mm x 22.2mm). The following website explains that there are size differences between the three series of SilverTowne 5-oz bars studied: https://allengelhard.com/silvertowne-lp/ I am included an image from the website above at the bottom of this post to illustrate the differences in series mentioned above. More information is available at that website. I am looking for some assistance on understanding which series my bar corresponds to. Also, I am curious about any information on the approximate value of this piece. As always, any information is greatly appreciated. IMAGE BELOW FROM WEBSITE MENTIONED ABOVE: THANK YOU!
I wish I collected them, they have gotten out of my price range. Looks like a nice little ounce bar. I am thinking a first pour just by images.
Nice! Would appear to be a first pour/series. I've always liked the old pour bars. I have seen a few of these over time on Proxibid auctions also.
I would like to thank everyone for their information. According to https://allengelhard.com/silvertowne-lp/ there are estimated to have been less than 100 first series 5-oz bars made. Does anyone know if there is a similar demand for the old SilverTowne bars like there are for Engelhard? Also, does anyone know of an example where a first series bar from SilverTowne was sold? As always, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.
