Burgundy/ Brabant Charles "the Rash" 1467-77AD AV Florin de Bourgoyne ND Antwerpen Mint Charles met a very bad end in Jan. 1477 at the Battle of Nancy. Here hie army was wiped out by the combined forces of the Duke of Lorainne (René I) plus Swiss infantry. Charles ended up having his head split in two by a burly Swiss "poleaxeman" Plus countless other blows via swords/ daggers/ war hammers/ maces....life was rough on the battlefield in 1400s.
I just can't get over the lovely decadence of your exquisite collection of gold. Both breathtaking and outstanding, I never cease to be amazed at what you have amassed.
THANKS! Cut a LOT of lawns/ weeded lots of flowerbeds/ trimmed many hedges/ can hardly wait to get back into action, once the snow melts. Also saving up for a frame off fully restored 67 427/390HP Corvette/ factory sidepipes/ automatic powerglide trans. John

Thank you to everyone who contributed. It has been a very educational and entertaining thread, along with images of fantastic coins. Well done all of you.
I think it was a great idea. And I think it should be done again, over the entire span of World coinage, from 7th century BC to the present, with a century posted every three days or so. Are you up for that challenge? If you don’t do it, I might have to steal your idea!
I will plan the format and create the opening introductory text. We will start on Tuesday 03/21/2023. I am getting excited by the thought of it already.
OR, we could pick up where this one ended (in 1500 AD), and go by decade from there every three days! So... 1510s... 1520s...1530s... etc. Since by the 1500s we'd be moving into the era where more dated coins become available, it can be broken down further like that. If we do 27 centuries of coinage, things will be really sparse in the first few centuries and by the last three centuries or so, we'd get buried in posts. Or you could do a hybrid approach: go by century from the start of coinage up until 1500 (or 1600, whatever you consider to be the start of the early modern era), and then go by decade from there.
I think continuing this by decade is best. Also it is probably better to start a new thread for this in the World section and include medals.
Sounds great! I could go either way/ I have at least 5 coins from all 27 centuries. My collection get better after 1500. Right now we are still at 1854 in that other game. There probably are fantastic collections out there/ too bad the "Tyrant" does not play/ his collection is probably worth in the billions of euros. I can only dream of having coins like he owns, lawncare doesnt pay as well as designing military drones John
I can play for the 15th century. These are the photos I have handy. Henry VI Groat 1481 Double Briquet from Brabant 1483 Bausche from Jülich-Berg
UPDATE This game is continuing on the World coins section https://www.cointalk.com/threads/middle-age-game-continuation.403995/ as two days per decade from where we finished here to the present day. Join in and have fun
