Yes, the Templeton Reid was one I had in mind. It's a private issue, so I guess that doesn't count against Eliasburg's claim. The doubloons definitely predate the Philadelphia mint, so in that sense they are not regular issue; however, under the Confederation, both the United States and the several States had full authority to coin money, so I cannot agree that coins issued under the Confederation are not "United States coins."
