Hi folk i know i have post this coin befor , now i get new microscope to take better picture , so let me what you folk see here .
All I can tell you is.. That Quarter would be in a 2X2 and no fingers would ever touch it again Nice find, I'd keep it
Wait for more input from the experts, but it looks very nice! Others with waay more experience then I will post some good info for you. You have a very super coin- My opinion===$$$$$
I bid on a colorado quarter like this a few years ago on ebay. Same anomaly but on the obverse. I lost it after it went over $300! Im thinking maybe die alignment stikes and then struck normal? Thats only a guess though.
I have a cent that has similar things going on but mine has a big dent. The multi struck appearance of just one side on your coin reminds me of it. Take a look: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ebay-pick-up.196214/page-2
Maybe it was double struck off center twice then made its way into the correct position where it was struck properly. That seems more logical then my first guess lol.
I think you have what is known as a " In Collar Strike Mint Error " .. Heres the link http://coinauctionshelp.com/incollarstrikeminterror.html#.VajUobUl_Sg
Is this where two coins are stuck together and they separate before the final strike? I'm just asking, I don't know.
It looks like a multiple in-collar strike but I can't reconcile myself with how it could show on the reverse but not the obverse.
