That's definitely one of the more interesting variations on a tripod. Neat coin!

Thanks for the coinpliments (as you know, I always love seeing other people's coins!!)

Oh yeah, I forgot to add the obvious comment/request ...

=> please post any Pontos and/or relevant coins (or post "any" coins or topics that you want to get off of your chest ... I'm not too picky about what is posted in my threads)

Oh, and speakin' of my OCD ...

=> yah, I really need to post "all" of my Pontos gang, just to keep 'em all tucked-together nicely in one well organized place!!

    ;)

... oh, and a few more cool additions ...

    pontosa.jpg pontosb.jpg pontosg.jpg pontosh.jpg Sinope Nike.jpg Sinope Medusa.jpg

eh-heh-heh, I also tossed-in those two new Sinope examples at the end (yah, they're kinda like Pontos' cool Medusa coin-cousins)

    ;)

Hmmm, I guess that coins from Pontos and/or Pontos-esque coins have become a bit of a "side-specialty" in my collection, eh?

... I did the same sort of coin-cluster with a few other cool places (example: coins of Syracuse) ... it is fun to have a couple of little side-collections, from time to time ...

Again, it would be awesome if you posted any coins, or any photos ... I have the day-off today, so I should be checking-in every now and then to respond (yah, it's "King Miner Day" ... seriously, that's a real stat-holiday up here in our lil' town!!)

Thanks, Orfew (I love coin comments)

Yah ... I guess maybe it's time that I learned how to make a virtual tray, eh? (maybe in a few years, if and when I'm able to retire and spend a bit more time on this ancient coin hobby thingy?)

    :panda:

... it still seems so far away

    It's kinda funny/odd ...

When I look at my sweet cluster of Pontos/Sinope coins, I notice that there is one obvious outlier ...

=> the oldest and only "AR" (silver) example in my Pontos hoard

    PONTOS, Amisos. AR Siglos
    3rd-2nd centuries BC
    Diameter: 17 x 15mm
    Weight: 3.98 grams
Obverse: Head of Hera right, wearing turreted crown
Reverse: Owl standing facing, wings spread
Reference: PCW-G4116-PONTOS, Cf. RG 11; Cf. SNG BM Black Sea 1118-9
Other: Well struck on a nice full flan … well-centered. Couple of small natural deposit spots on reverse field

    Pontos Amisos AR Siglos.jpg

... she's kinda like the den-mother of the bunch

Since we just did an Amisos/Sinope/similar thread (started by you :D) a few days ago, here's a link to my post in that thread. I had to go all the way back to page 2 to find it.

ahahaha => thanks for the link, judger (you know me => if I get a new coin then I make a new thread and then all of my similar coin-types must be paraded in that thread) ...

It's how I'm wired, my clever Princess

=> have a nice day (we're about to go out for lunch and do a bit of shopping)

    Cheers

The closest relative of your OP coin i could find is her Eastern cousin (Indo-Greek, Euthydemos II): EuthIIDiChalkonWeb.jpg
(and the oldest nickle-copper coin i have)

Nice! Yeah, its a good portrait. I like the patina that coins of Amisos tend to get.
