Today at 1:20 PM Fed Ex delivered my winnings from Sunday's G-N Pecunem sale. That is Germany to Virginia in less than 72 hours. The coins I bought are in no way related so I won't pile them on one thread. The only one photographed so far is a Republican semis Crawford 56/3 18.03g 28mm. I believe the cut at obverse top was from manufacture. It also has flan sprues from the casting of the blank but the coin itself is struck. I'm weak in Republican AE an this is my only semis. The little research I've done on these shows differences of opinion on such matters as dates.

That is a superb coin. I really like the details of the prow on the reverse.

I have also been very pleased with the immediate shipping from G&N.

That's a very nice new addition. I agree about the cut. It looks like a misplaced chisel blow, possibly from when the sprues were being chopped off.

I realize such things lower the market price but I am a lot easier with pre-issue damage than cleaning and corrosion or marks made by the shovel of a metal detectorist. That is probably why I got the coin. Smart dealers would not touch it.

I'm in agreement with everything about this post.

    1. The cut looks exactly as TIF described.

    2. G-N shipping is by far the best in the business. I'm sorry about your experience Collect, but that happens once in a while with any dealer and any carrier.

    3. This is a wonderful and interesting type. Mine is a Spanish-Celtic imitation...

Unfortunately, although G-N's coins rock, they always get stopped at customs and I always end-up paying ridiculously high tariffs (sure, I guess that's what is supposed to happen, but it seldom occurs when I order coins from other continents and/or countries throughout the world)

"However" => that is a great coin, Doug (congrats)

I also have my same ol' Semis example (originally, I said Jupiter was on the obverse, but you schooled me and taught me that Saturn is on the obverse of the Semis ... "S" for Semis & Saturn)
