Outstanding DD. Even I can clearly see the doubling. Very nice coin.

I recently found a 1946 wheat not brown or red but a light yellow-gold and it seems lighter ? any reason for me to dig farther?

What's up with the 1951 D's online for MASSIVE price differences? I know condition would be one issue but the ones for big $ are not even mention in anything I've read so far. I found this in change I got a McDonald's a few days ago.

Here is about a $250 coin. I would think the differences should be obvious.

AFAIK there's nothing special about 1951 D. In UNC, it can range from $0.25-$0.50 for a low grade, brown cent up to $250+ like the one above in MS67 RD. In between, you can get some interesting toning on RB examples (maybe that's where the extreme price ranges you were seeing come from?).

Your point? I'm assuming you don't collect many wheat pennies. It is a regular business strike from Philly. BTW, welcome to CT. You will learn a lot.

Well what would a 1942 p gold platted wheat penny be worth.

I have an 1846 penny that's in horrible condition. The date and one cent is about all you can clearly see, anyone know if it's worth anything at all? I've always kept any old coins I find just to have but this is the oldest I've ever had.

You know it doesn't matter whether in person or online, everytime I look at that coin, I get dizzy and nauseous

The same as a solid Nickel 1972 D Penny - only worth a Penny so say the "Experts".

Have to say, I'm not a coin collector but husbands grandfather had many coins from other countries plus old U.S. coins, dimes, pennies, nickels, quarters. Have old pennies, some Indian Heads pennies, some not in very good condition but can read dates on some. 1859;1898;1887; one with not date. 1943 but in very poor condition but can see date. 1944 pennies, here is my question...and forgive me but have been on so many sites and it's very confusing. If the wheat penny is copper than it is worth a couple of dollars? Or is the Steel penny worth a couple of dollars? Thank you.
