I search rolls from the bank and last week I found a 1943S nickel and a 2000 wide AM penny.

Some more great luck today. I found a head teller with 9 rolls of halves. The first roll had a nice Ben Franklin. I thought it was just luck, but every roll except one had a silver or two or three inside even though there were several different kinds of wrappers and none looked old.

I wound up with 6 forty percent silver halves, six 1964 Kennedy halves, 4 Bens and 2 Walkers. Also found three silver dimes in two boxes today. Oh, and a nice 1987-S proof half.

My run of bad luck ended today when I found my first silver at work in nearly 3 weeks. 1964-D Rosie (F+) and a 1916-D Lincoln cent (VG). We also received 10 bundles of 1$, found 5 star notes after sifting through 'em all, of which 3 were from runs of 640,000. Nice day.

Nice haul there CTRollHunter. Assuming CT stands for Connecticut and not your initials, do you hunt near Berlin/New Britain? Are you the reason why I keep getting skunked at my local banks? lol.

CT is for Coin Talk. I travel a lot for business and have searched from Arizona to Florida to Maine!

Hit up about a dozen banks today, including some in a more diverse/less English speaking area - skunked across the board.

Stopped by a familiar branch on the way home, and scored a 2008-P half and a 40% silver Ike (76-S). So not a total waste of an hour.

Picked up a box of cents from BoA this afternoon - All are BWR and about half appear to be fresh-from-the-mint 2015s out of Philly. First of this year's model that I've seen in the wild.

I haven't done any roll hunting in a while. But today I got some good finds from the teller. I got 2 Indian pennies 1900 and 1906. Also got 2 buffalo nickels a 1936 and a 1937. Along with 2 liberty nickels 1903 and 1911. I have to admit I got the greatest teller in the world that just happens to be my wife.

I just opened a 2-roll set of 2005 nickles from the US Mint, & 1 roll has nickles that seem to be colored like the presidential dollars. Is this normal? I have not unwrapped the roll but it's the same on both ends.

They do not come from the Mint like that, and are considered damaged to any collector. Some 'people' (mainly cowans) like them anyway. You may want to open the whole roll. If they're all colorized and in good shape (If the paint isn't cracked or pealing) you should list 'em on eBay either re-rolled or individually. Depending on the nickel's condition, and the condition of the paint, they are worth either 5¢, or 1-5$. Chipped paint = 5¢ (Colorization is considered damage, so if the color is damaged then it is a damaged, damaged coin).

Man am I on a hot streak. I took some time to visit a few banks today and found one with an opened 500 dollar box of halves. I am not a customer of the bank, and they were bank wrapped rolls (I prefer CWR), so I just asked for five rolls. As I carried them back to the car, I saw this 1965 ender:

    20150320_102333.jpg

Seemed like a good sign. I saved that roll for last! But the other four rolls were better with two Bens and a Walker!

I went back and asked to buy the rest of the box, but they would only give me another $100. I found found two more Walkers and three more Bens plus two more forty percenters in those ten rolls.

But there were still $300 or so left in the box! I went back in and begged the head teller to let me have more but no luck. She had to "save them for her business customers who use them on the weekend." Huh? I don't know any businesses using halves anymore.

Still, the bank had been very nice to a non-customer, so I thanked her and left to check some more banks.

No luck all day! And all I could think of was the rest of that box...

So I went back at 4:00 pm to open an account. The head teller was gone but her replacement recognized me from the morning. She knew what I wanted and gave me the halves without making me open an account. THANK YOU!

After all that I did not find the 30 full rolls of bens, barbers and walkers I was dreaming about. But I did get two more bens and 6 more forty percenters. And peace of mind that I finished the box...

Seven bens, three walkers and seven 40 percenters:

I just completed another box of pennies/cents from the bank. I try to pick one up about once or twice a month. The tellers enjoy the M&M's i bring and smile when i enter the bank.

    7 Lincoln Bicentennial's
    16 Wheat
    1 Steel
    3 Copper Canadian's
    2 S mint
    Plus 160 other coppers
    61 1982 and only 4 were zinc ( i use a scale )

The other coins are taken to the credit union coin counter and deposited in that account. Then i withdraw cash from that ATM for my next trip to the bank.

They do not come from the mint like that. But if I am wrong, can you post pictures with the coins and receipt.
