    310-305 BCE
    AR tetradrachm, 17.40 g, 24 mm
    Obv: head of the nymph Arethusa left, wearing grain wreath, earring and necklace; around, three dolphins; under, monogram (NK?)
    Rev: ΣYPAKOΣIΩN, fast chariot charioteer leads to left, holding reins and kentron; above, triskeles; in exergue, monogram
    Ref: Ierardi 12 (O2-R8); SNG Copenhagen 573 var., SNG ANS 637

Plaetorius Cestianus, magistrate, late summer-autumn 42 BC. BRVT IMP L. PLAET. CEST., bare head of Brutus right, wearing slight beard / EID MAR, pileus (cap of liberty) between two daggers. Crawford 508/3. Cahn 7a (same dies). CRI 216. RSC 15. RCV 1439

    Coin dealers would sell it for 100 dollars but less when you sell to them

    Wow wished o had one of those coins all I collect is regular money like Penny's nickles dimes and quarters wheat Penny's and half dollars and gold dollar coins and I want to get a Morgan silver dollar

    You want a Morgan? I'll send you one :) I have many of them although I recently sold most to free up money for buying ancients, which everyone on this board finds infinitely more interesting.

    My Morgans are circulated though ;)

    Thanks to everyone. I bought it from a dealer's foreign coin box. He didn't know what it was and I didn't either. Paid $10 so I think I did okay.

    (Help! The Ancients are sucking me back in! Help!!!)

    True, true.

    And Hadrian was one of the 5 "good emperors", so he was actually on my list of coins to get at some point anyway. I've heard of "Hadrian's Wall", so this made me do some research into this man's life. That is the true value of this coin I guess ;-)
