Thank you all for your input and expertise. This was my first Mercury dime purchase, i hope I made a good buy
The topic was brought up in the other thread that the OP posted about this coin. Since this is a heavily counterfeited coin, any raw 42/1 Mercury should be scrutinized. I gave him the diagnostic to see if his coin is genuine in the other thread (see below) 42/1 Mercury
She just came in the mail. I took her to a local coin shop and I was told by 2 people the coin was not clean. They were hesitant to say what their opinions where in regards to grade but they ended up saying ms60 minimum
Were those opinions from the shop owners or some customers? Because even in those new pics it looks cleaned. Hairlines are still visible and there is gunk pressed up against the edges of the devices and everything else is shiny which is usually a dead give away of a cleaning.
It still looks cleaned to me, the thing about salespeople is they are always trying to sell something. But, send it in for grading and prove us both wrong.
AU cleaned. I see wear on the coin in the center of the fasces on the diagonal bar. Also on the Obv on the chin area. Way to many hits on the coin for MS in my opinion.
Did they say it was not cleaned, or that it wasn't clean? Means two different things. If they said it's not clean that means it wouldn't grade problem free.
