Hey guys been awhile. As the title states has anyone ever seen a Canadian silver 1oz maple 2013 that has the new security features that they did for the 2014?

When looking in the Charlton volume 2 Canadian coin guide under the regular issue series it shows that there is a regular and a security version. My understanding is that the security version was released in 2014. I have talked to a couple people about this and either 1. its a mistake in the guide, 2. it was very limited and maybe they did a small run of it at the end of the 2013 to test it. I personally have never seen it in the store I am at and my other friends store has never seen it either.

Also its curious that in the guide it lists the series 1988 - 2012 in the notes above as how they where designed, then it notes the 2014 design but it has no mention of what is going on for the 2013.

K seems this was an error in the book after talking to Bill Cross.

    :)

    Mystery solved.

I've bought a lot of 2013 maples and never heard of that.

What was the mystery? Was there a mistake in the book? I have 2013's with no security feature. Not sure how I feel about the new laser inscribed lines. Kind of ruins the typical luster look, but it also adds another level of detail to a very elegant design.

I love it for it's detail and simplicity. IMO, it honors Canada well.
