How tarnished silver bullion effects the sell price?

Discussion in 'Bullion Investing' started by WalkingLiberty1212, Jan 27, 2015.

  1. I have only ever bought bullion and have never tried selling. Curious how it works when trying to sell to a dealer. Would you get offered more for a "flawless" bar than you would for a bar that looks tarnished? Or do they fetch the same price reguardless of appearance?

And this is in requards to 1oz, 5oz, 10oz and kilo sized bars.

    Appreciate any feedback. TIA

Silver is silver to most dealers . I'd leave them .

Tarnish shouldn't affect the price at all. Your dealer is likely just going to send them to the smelter anyway.

  5. Awesome. Just what I was hoping to hear!
I store everything and do my best to prevent my silver bars from tarnishing and so far so good. But after years and years of storage I'd assume eventually I will get some.

It doesn't matter what it looks like.

Assuming its just bullion, tarnish certainly wouldn't hurt the value, it could actually increase the value on some bars if its "good looking" tarnish.
