I am trying to compile a list of gold bullion coins, which are circulated by national bodies around the world. Guest posts will be greatly appreciated! 1. American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins
The attached zipped file is a MicroSoft Excel file with gold coins & their specs, which might help you out with this thread. I also uploaded a version as a PDF if you prefer that file type. I could also copy+paste the same here, but it will not preserve cells.
I would add the Austrian Philharmonic: http://www.apmex.com/product/13/austria-1-oz-gold-philharmonic-bu-random-year 0.9999 fine gold, but mine at least doesn't have the luster/shine of the Maple Leaf or the Eagle. I also have Chinese Pandas: http://www.apmex.com/category/15010/china-gold-panda-coins 0.999 fine gold, very nice and good shine. Lot of other mints around the world make gold coins, but their volumes are limited, the quality is not up to collector standards, they are less liquid, and sometimes they aren't made every year. An ounce of gold is still under some circumstances only worth an ounce of gold, so if you pay a premium make sure you have a good reason for paying it.
https://www.moderncoinmart.com/2015-canada-1-oz.-.99999-fine-gold-200-growling-cougar.html I think this coins looks pretty nice. Thinking of getting it!!
Agreed.....nice coin. Five 9's of purity ? Wow......I wonder how much softer it is than an American Eagle ?
I wonder if you can 'smudge' a five 9's purity gold coin in your fingers...must be MUCH SOFTER than a .999 let alone the Krug/AGE @ 0.9167 fine gold.
I don't think there is much difference between a .999 and .99999, the other metals are going to be so miniscule that they aren't really going to affect the softness of the coin.
I hope so....I have a few sub-1 oz.'ers. It's a nice coin, my local LCS rarely has them compared to MLs, AGEs, and even Buffalos.
Congrats....it's a nice coin, I believe the annual mintages are much less than for AGEs, MLs, and Kruggerands.
