I had to have one of these "first day of issue" silver Eagles. I probably over paid but oh well I like it and felt like sharing.

I hope that tiny mark on the sun isn't a nick.

Makes a coin I have no interest in somewhat interesting.

If you only bought one side of the coin (and slab), then, yes, you overpaid. :D

Too much like a mirror. I already know what I look like! Hate being reminded by something I bought!

LOOKS HOT! Is warm to the touch?

Very pretty coin and yes - hope that small spot/nick is on the holder cause otherwise it drops to 69

Well, you got rid of the one on the sun, but now you have 10 in the right field. Maybe you should get some dandruff shampoo.

Well 70's are alot rarer than 69's and command a premium! But even so if you like it that's all that matters!! Cheers!

I was at a show this weekend and in this dealer's low-end slab box, there was an ACG PF 69 Washington quarter. I told him I would have bought it for laughs if it had said MS 70. :p

On a slightly more serious note, I buy the slab (in addition to the coin) when I'm looking at lower-end stuff. For example, from the same dealer's box, I got 5 slabbed ms66-67 state quarters for $5 apiece. I figure I was buying $2.50 worth of coin and $2.50 worth of plastic in that case, since a slab is one of the best coin holders money can buy in terms of physical protection (but not necessarily from toning). :)

There's nothing wrong with paying a premium for a certain coin IF you like it. But like art, make sure you don't mind not being able to sell it later for what you paid for it.

If I had $100,000 earmarked for silver or gold, I might put 10% or so into special coins that were slabbed with MS-70, Ultra Cameo, etc. But I wouldn't invest the whole enchilada in those coins because if the price of gold/silver were to rise, I have to overcome alot of premium to make money. So the bulk would go into straight UNC Buffalo's, Eagles, Pandas, etc.

If you overpay on a small quantity of these coins, you won't get burned big-time. I bought the 2013 Enhanced Proof and Reverse Proof MS-70 ASEs because I loved their look, but the price was near the top and I'm probably down 25% on them. But I like the coins and it's only a few hundred bucks so it's not like I'm into them for thousands.

I actually just picked up another pair this weekend at the Westchester Coin Show, a pair of MS-69's. At a minimum, it'll let me show them both to people and see if they can tell them apart !! :D
