  1. Appreciate the tips everyone! and I Like the Christmas story Reference btw

Any tips for stacking 5 oz and 10oz bars. The handful I have I been buying Vinyl Bar Sleeves is this common practice or when stacking large quantities do you just stack them without anything?

I would put each individual coin in an air-filled zip lock bag and put them in the big chest. Then, shake the big chest for some coin popcorn sounds.

^not recommended. This method is cumbersome, and doesn't provide nearly enough popcorn sounds. For maximum popcorn sounds, tape your coins to fireworks, and place in your oven at 350 degrees.

I store what little silver I have in plastic coin rolls in a shoe box. This wouldn't be helpful for appreciable amounts though.

I use bankbags like the ones that are 5in by 10in and fit $250FV in 90% in each one . Tht work very well and they were only like $3 or $4

You can buy new, genuine US mint bags off ebay for pretty cheap. I got one simply for hauling change to the bank now and then. They're canvas bags and they're tough. Will last a lifetime and then some. You can get them labeled in dollars, quarters, etc.. That's one option.

For a more organized option, buy some square coin safe tubes. Store appropriate #s in the rolls to make inventory easier. I use these and really like them. They stack nice and don't roll around. I'd forget the chest and just buy a large fire safe and hide it somewhere. Get creative. Store the bags and tubes in that and be done with it.

for junk silver, i have 3 mason jars and the rest of it is in paper rolls. i used to use square "NUMIS PRODUCTS INC." plastic tubes but my coins started to get ugly black toning. i don't have any bars but i have a friend who stores his in tupperware, and they don't seem to be affected by it.

I keep my stash in cardboard penny boxes that come from Brinks.
They are designed to hold a lot of weight and they're free. They also stack nicely in my gun safe.

I ziploc all my raw coins, and then put the ziplocs in .50 caliber ammo containers. No air or water gets in those. The way the coins looked when you bought them will look like that when you sell them.

Although I don't remember how much my ammo containers costed. I've owned these for over 10 years.

And no worries with PVC or other dangerous chemicals in ziplocs - It's generally a known fact that any bag meant for food is safe for coins, or just about any metal. They don't contain PVC.
