I will buy as I will have dollars ! I buy for my collection each time that I find an ounce that I want. And for stacking and annuel issues I buy each drop (3 or 4 months). I started on 2011 when spot was 32$ US, my average buying price's 32$ CAD (lowest ounce 22,5$ highest 100 $) only regular bullion.(no graded)
I plan to buy more soon based on my market timing system. It's getting close to a buy signal. In the meantime I will certainly buy any bullion coins that are numismatic now that I like.
Based on 2010 census figures - the US population is expected to increase by over 50 million people by 2030. The world's population is expected to increase by 1.5 billion in the same time frame. Increase in what I'll call natural demand should be enough to generally support commodity prices higher than they were 20 years ago when natural demand was significantly less.
Lol no. 99% of those new people born will prob be too poor or have no interest in precious metals while the total amount of metals mined will probably increase by a larger percentage. Your theory is like saying every single born infant in Africa/china/India will buy two ounces of gold which is certainly not true.
LOL - what percentage of the population has an interest in PMs now. As long as the current distribution of the population remains consistent - then those playing the game will increase at the same rate as the total population.
They'll likely have an interest in the many things that silver is used to produce. Why would you ignore what constitutes more than 75% of demand and focus on coins and bars which make up less than 25% of demand? Sounds like an emotional/knee jerk response to me.
Just think about it. In the next 16 years the US is projected increasing population by an amount equal to the State of Texas - Twice.
Prob 0.05 % most people in this world don't even know silver/gold exists and many people from booming population nations can't read or write let alone know what gold is
Gold is too much for me, but I am buying silver again. I had a little hiatus when it seemed like it was heading for $15, but I am cautiously optimistic again now. I buy small amounts anyway, so it doesn't hurt me much when it goes down.
You're killin' me! I might go so far as to say the majority of people in the world aren't fully up to speed on what forms of bullion are out there and how to purchase them without getting ripped off, but to assume that most people don't even know silver/gold exist is either idiotic, or elitist, or both.
If they can't read or write how are they supposed to know the periodic table of elements. You're a silly one.
Five year kids know what gold and silver is. Didn't you ever go "digging for pirate treasure" when you were a kid?
They don't actually know what gold is. If you give 99.5% of the population brass or fools gold, told them it was real, they will most likely think it's real gold. For most people, "gold" is just a description, a color-similar to yellow. Hell, most people think the new $1 coins are real gold even in a highly literate country like the USA. People do not realize that gold is a separate metal because they weren't taught that. Most people think all modern dimes, quarters, and nickels are silver. Just because you see educated people on a bullion forum that does not mean everyday people have a clue what they are talking about. This notion of people knowing what they are talking about has fooled you because of an availability heuristic. This is not representative of the human population as a whole.
One does not need to know how to read, write or even know what the periodic table to know what gold is. People have been refining gold for thousands of years before we knew what elements are. The thing about gold is that it has many properties that not many other elements have. To name a few, gold is malleable and ductile, not very reactive, dense compared to many other metals, and is bright yellow. Although bronze is gold in color, it does not have many of the other properties of gold. This makes testing gold easy and cheap. Now, I'm not saying that for a fact there are not people who will not confuse fools gold or bronze for gold, however, I do not believe that 99.5% of the population can't tell the difference. What I do believe though is that 99.5% of all statics is made up.
The hindus have a long tradition of "must have" gold and silver as part of the dowry and this goes thru all castes. So it's a sizable percentage of the world population there alone.
Glad you ask...I went out and bought some of these.. ARE THEY CUTE OR WHAT? Look at how small they are.
