Can anyone help me with this? [edit] I have 3 coins minted by Mayer, Wonders of the World series, in beautiful boxes, the coin enclosed in a round plastic protective holder.

One, on one side, has the standard of Bhutan, says Kingdom of Bhutan, the opposite side a the Chinese Goddess of Compassion, Kuan Yin, 2001.Diameter 2.6 cms. Solid gold, not sure what carat!! 7gms.

    Buddha Coin, same specifications.

Pyramids of Egypt Coin - 3.9 mm; outer silver, inner 2.6 mm gold; Gold 7.7 gm, Silver 31gm. Fine gold 999.9. Fine silver 999/-
    Will work on photos :)

Does anyone know how much the Commemorative Coins are worth? I have 3 in the Wonders of the World category [edit] - Kuan Yin, The Buddha and Pyramids of Egypt.
Will be grateful for elucidation :)

What country?? Images? PM content, diameter, fineness? [minted in Germany does not necessarily mean they are German coins...]

Technically it does unless this was before Bismarck united Germany.

The Mayer Mint was founded in 1871. Hard to do business before that year. ;) And no, the mint did and does not produce any coins for Germany. It is now owned by, or has close business connection to, Qi/Goldquest in Hong Kong. Some of its products are coins, mostly collector pieces for various African and Asian countries, others are medals ...

So the chinese make fake coins and sell them on alibaba in hopes of getting noticed by mayer mint so that they can be part of a legitimate company?

Also Germany no longer uses marks. They have adopted the Euro from the European Union. are there any agencies in Germany that produce Euros? How exactly does the Euro system operate?

Without some research, my guess would be that no German or other European firm can mint "Euro" coins, just like you can't mint "Dollars" in the U.S. The ECB contracts for the production of coins and currency for the Eurozone countries.

Just as not every American product spies on people outside the US who buy it, not every mint that has a Hong Kong connection produces counterfeits. :) Technically the Mayer designs and products are fine; it's just that they are collector pieces much like those Niue, Liberia etc. issues. As far as I know, the "Wonders of the World" issues were produced for Bhutan, and they are not medals.

With regard to the euro, the ECB (or rather the system of central banks) issues the paper money. When it comes to coins, the ECB only controls the overall volume. It's the euro area member states that issue them. The Mayer Mint has produced some silver/gold euro collector coins (see here, "Karlsfeld") for Ireland, for example.

Another piece of sovereign authority that much of Europe gave up -- for what? Spain, Portugal, and Italy made out like bandits, Germany and Scandinavia left holding the bag, Great Britain wise to keep their distance from this --------.

Mayer Mint also has minted some NCLT for some wannabee countries. But they do a fairly nice job on them.

Unfortunately the UK has still not made the decision to leave the European Union. No idea why the British government insists on staying in. But we are getting away from the original topic. Found some Wonders of the World coins that are listed as Bhutan issues minted by Mayer: Egyptian pyramids (2002), Taj Mahal (2002), Borobudur (2003), Angkor Wat (2004). Maybe the others are "from" other countries ...

I had looked in Krause but didn't see them. My volume only runs from 1901 to 2000, which explains why. But the OP ought to be able to find (sold) examples on eBay or other online auctions.

Well, the OP did post a description, but we edited it (because it was written like a For Sale post) ... and then forgot about it. So here it is back - see the first post. :)

Found this list in a catalog. No images, and I do not know whether the denominations and specification match yours. But it's something at least ...

Thanks guys, interesting reading your conversation :). Sorry about lack of photos, will post soon. They are 'labeled' as from Bhutan (they do not look unlike Christian's logo coin. They are Bhutan issues minted by Mayer, Commemorative coins for collection, not sure why they're all 'from' Bhutan??!! I'm wondering if they're saleable and who would want them! Will attempt to decipher your list I did buy them through Goldquest at the time.

I am seriously impressed Christian!! Those are the exact coins on that list. That must be the price on the right hand side.
