im brain storming to start up an online gold shop to offer pure gold, only concern is delivery of the product, since the cost of product is very high the risk involved in transportation would certainly go up.
Do you have enough money to fund the shop? You'll need enough gold to keep up with demand. And are you going to buy gold from people? Then you'll need cash and gold to keep up with both supply and demand. Starting a gold shop is a big move, and it has it's risks - if gold crashes, so will your store. This will have a bad effect on whatever you are getting the money to start it from (personal, existing buisness etc).
Its a good move but i would suggest you to first try with a very small amount. Just to see how it works. Make your site look professional with all security certificate etc. choose a reputed delivery company. You need to make your buyers feel comfortable. You website should have some reputation and good reviews. (you can easily get them for a price). use social bookmarking effectively. Bulk bookmarking in digg,delicious will help a lot to popularize and also send in decent amount of traffic
