There are certain nation in the world, which are reeling from civil war and other calamities like Congo and Somalia. But if you are willing to take the risk and ready to invest a small amount in these countries, you will be able to get huge returns.

The cost of producing gold from mines in Congo stands at just $345 per Oz. Any one willing to take the chance?

Quite a long read and thanks for the article. I'm interested and might look more into this. It would be a nice ROI to invest this and anyone who doesn't would be a bit foolish to do so.

Well, I wouldn't recommend direct investment in places as risky as Congo. I would rather check the US based or EU based mining companies which are having plans to invest in mining sector in Congo and to reduce the risk I will invest in 4-5 of them. Even if 4 of them make me lose my principal investment, I am sure that the 5th one will multiply my money by 25 times.

it wouldn't be that easy, to get the mining rights takes lot of efforts and formalities, certifications, reputation and more.
Those who can do it already meet up with authority and finish up the contract to do agreement of mining. It needs huge deposit to be paid upfront to the authority at first.

You are right. Requires a lot of money and effort to start with, and most importantly should have quite a bit of political clout. But if you get dragged in to the Congolese civil war, then the risk will be enormous.

money is ok, it can be pumped in, but major worry is the permissions from authorities, local issues etc.

In places like Congo, things should be done in the hard way. You may probably need to bribe in some local officials or flex your muscles a little bit. Having a local partner might come in handy.
