So, never really thought about doing it, but I've seen some people actually strike it rich, and others who fail miserable. To get a start into doing your own mining, exactly what sort of investment would it take? Does it depend on the scale, location, metal?

Drat, I was hoping you were going to say mining Garret. It's always been an interesting looking job to me. But as for investing.... How about some details? I've been looking for something interesting to funnel my money into lately ;)

I think you just invest in stocks in mining companies, and hope for the best!

Have to be smart about it though. I'm not going to put my money into a company that's falling apart, or doesn't have a decent plan. Research is the only way to make your investments worthwhile. Sure you may get lucky and grab a good one, but I'm not one into putting my investments on luck.

If only. You have to do some research first, kid! If you just pump money into a companies stock without actually researching what you're doing, chances are you're just going to lose money. The stock market is not easy :(

Research would be the only way to go. And lots of it. I would look at all aspects of the company as well.

Starting you own mining company is not a joke. First of all you need to invest a lot in researching. In any business research is very important. I would rather suggest to invest in gold as starting a mining company would require a large amount of funds which a common man cannot afford

I wish if i get a dream of that place in the world where i can find Gold and only gold ;) I will surely inform you all hehe

Unless you have a large savings fund for both starting your buisness and something to fall back on after, starting your own mining buisness will require a large loan. Not only will you be under pressure because of interest charges, if your buisness is not a success you will be in an extremely bad financial positon.

Do your research, and invest in a mining company. If you do your research there is alot less risk.

Well, the first thing you need to invest in, is a high quality device which tracks gold. You know those stick like figures, with the detector on the bottom which finds gold? Yeah, that's what you need. I think they are very expensive too, going for $200 and up if you want a quality one.

Settling for anything less is a waste of your time because there is a good chance the one you buy cheap, won't work. Also, it will take a lot of research or trial and error when it comes to finding actual gold spots. There is still some out there but it wont be easy. Maybe 20 years ago there was gold everywhere, but now it is becoming scarce. If you know where to look though, you may be safe.
