Hello dollar coins; goodbye dollar bills?

it appears the US government wants to save some money by discontinuing the dollar bill and replace it with the dollar coin.

I don't think I want this since I have a lot of dollar bills.

Let the the dollar bill disappear, but it won't be replaced in a couple of months.It will take long way and let us see how things would happen.

 

It has been shown in the past that the average American prefers paper money over coins. Would you rather carry around 20 dollar bills, or 20 dollar coins? Easy, the paper money. I do not mind however increasing the use of coins for currency, since at least in the coin, there is value in itself.

 

I wouldn't have too much trouble with the coins being used, as long as their kept light weight.

Yes I would much rather have a $20 bill than to carry around 20 coins. It is more portable and lighter that way.

 

I'd like to see all currency go to coins. Eliminate paper money completely.

 

I would like to see paper eliminated here in the uk and Id carry a few coins but most places I use my card so I don't carry much cash.

I guess it depends on what they're made out of? If we just replace all the paper currency with coins made out of a worthless metal, then what would it matter?

I would only want coins as currency provided they were made of gold/silver/other precious metals.

1-dollar bills gotta go.. Same for $5 bills. Inflation, inflation.
