Anatomy of an International Monetary Regime: The Classical Gold Standard, 1880-1914. Mr. Gallarotti shoots down many of the myths about the classical gold-standard era.Three fundamental questions are essential to the discussion: How did the regime originate? How did it work? Why did it persist? Gallarotti uses an interdisciplinary approach that draws upon politics, economics, and ideology to explain the answers. http://www.amazon.com/Anatomy-International-Monetary-Regime-Classical/dp/0195089901
Do you have this book? Do you think that it is worth it? If not then why not? I can not imagine paying that much for a book, let alone an ebook.
Probaly a rare e-book that cannot be found anywere, you should try to search for a real book at your library/musea
That's a bit ridiculous.... It has to be rare or something. Even if that's the case, 125$ for an ebook on amazon? Come on now. How could ANYBODY get away with charging 125$ for a digital copy of something? 125$ sounds more like the price of one of those get rich quick scheme e-books. Not something from Amazon D:
I tend to agree with you. there is no way I would play that much for a regular book let alone an ebook.
Yeah, but SOME people would. Otherwise, why would people try and sell crap like this? Makes me want to go make my own e-book.
How much for an eBook?! That is outrageously overpriced. I know there are regular books on sale for more than that but they are physical things that have been around for hundreds of years, eBooks should never be worth even a quarter of that amount, no matter how informative the content is.
I agree with you much on this deansaliba. It is crazy to think that anyone would pay this much for an ebook.
$125 is not too expensive mate, but buy it from reliable website so that you know that you are not over charged for it. Check with Amazon if they sell such ebooks.
The physical book costs about that much as well because it is a special interest book, not a lot of printings, and would be considered collectible. It's ridiculous that the e-book would cost as much, but I suppose it's an option for those who no longer care for the actual books. You can probably read (more than likely, just some of) it on Google-books.
Rarely does a book come along that becomes a reference point for the experts and scholars in a given field. This is THE book of reference on the Gold Standard that we've all heard so much about, and that many urge a return to. Many people today who call for a return to the Gold Standard probably haven't read this book to understand why and how a return is or isn't possible under current conditions. It's the content of a book which determines it's value for me, I could never look at a book and say I wouldn't pay X amount of dollars for it if I didn't know what it contained. Some random book may hold the secrets of the Fountain of Youth....how much would that be worth? $125 for the valuable information this book has on pre-Gold Standard conditions, and on the Gold Standard itself, is probably a real bargain.
The particular book in question doesn't appear to be an E-book on Amazon. I checked and the price range is $125 - $444 there for a new book. Why the large gap in pricing is a mystery too me? Book lovers that know their books and have the money will spend exorbitant amounts to get what they want. I agree, I would never spend that kind of money without knowing first if there were some kind of built in profit margin.
You can pick up a used copy on Amazon for around $50. Of course libraries are ideal for saving money on this type of thing.
Unless this e-book unveils a secret on how to make money with gold, then this is just a scam to get more money than it's worth. Also, there are no reviews of this book.
