What would you rather have? Money in the bank or gold at home?

With the money going up and down in value, and gold simply being .. gold.

I feel that I rather have a chunk of gold at home I can use when I really need it, than the equivalent of it in cash in the bank.

But I simply do not know enough about all of this - so looking for advice from you guys.

Do you believe a currency crisis is inevitable? If so, then you obviously want to have gold than money in the bank.

Obviously gold. Many of us may have heard the great inflation in Argentina some few years before. People had money in bank account but can't liquidate it in hard cash. So, Gold is a better option in such situation. Moreover, prices of gold is always rising, as seen for past 4 years, but money remains same, even sometimes it has devalued.

So gold rises in price, true, so better to keep it at home and sell it at the time when it sells for the most.

Great feedback from you guys, I really appreciate it. It builds confidence in me, and I am going to talk to an agent of mine and my parents to see if I can exchange a bunch of my money into gold, and have it at home - I just need to think about how to securely store it in case of fire/ breakins, etc. First step, probably not mention on a public forum that I am considering doing this. hehe.

No problem, great thread :) Put it somewhere near an exit in case of fire, keep it somewhere hidden to overcome break ins eg behind a picture ( very "filmish" but it works ) Good luck to you, have fun!
