In late 2010 the US mint will start to mint uncirculated 2011 silver eagles that will come to the hands of consumers in the early months of 2011. Since 1986 these coins have been prized by collectors as great pieces of minted American history. These American silver eagle coins have been minted every year in uncirculated condition but the proof version was not minted in 2009 as the demand for the uncirculated version was to great to supply blanks to create the proof version. The best way to acquire 2011 uncirculated American silver eagles is to purchase 2011 silver eagle rolls. The rolls give you the smallest amount to pay above spot price instead of paying a premium on each coin if you bought them all individually.
One of the best ways to buy these is at a local coin show. The shipping costs often become a significant percentage of your expected costs, thus lowering potential profit, especially when you buy in small quantities such as a single roll. If you're in tune with the market, you may be well positioned to pick up some great bargains at spot or even slightly below, at a local show.
Just got back from a local coin show today, neither to buy or sell, really, just to check things out. Very busy in the morning (I'd go so far as to say it was packed), but seemed to have pretty well cleared out by early afternoon. No real idea what people were buying (only witnessed a couple smallish sales), but judging by where people were sitting/browsing, seems like there was an awful lot of interest in foreign coins, both modern and ancient. Of maybe the dealers, there was one dedicated ancient dealer, one foreign + ancient, and three others with considerable foreign inventory that I remember, and all seemed to have no lack of folks at least looking. Quite a good selection there of US coins too, which was a pleasant surprise to me, given the poor impression I've gotten of local dealers. I did not see a whole lot of dealers focusing on bullion, and those that were did not seem to have more customers/browsers than any other.
Thats useful information right there, but from where can we find the info about the local coin shows happening ?
While searching for this I got one website selling the coin. Here it is http://www.coin-rare.com/2011-silver-eagle-roll.aspx They have priced it $628.80
