The U.S. Mint was set to begin releasing the 2010 "America the Beautiful" five-ounce silver bullion coins, an eagerly anticipated event in the collecting community. The Mint accepted orders from its authorized purchasers Monday. So many in the coin-collecting community were clamoring to get their hands on one of 165,000 of the 0.999-fine silver bullion coins that some dealers were reportedly being offered "double spot value." The bullion coins sport a symbolic face value of a quarter dollar, a diameter of three inches and bear no mint mark. The value of the bullion coin is based on the commodity it contains. The large-format coins—so called when coins are five ounces or larger—are the first of their kind for the U.S. government. The 2010 America the Beautiful program calls for the creation of 56 coins, one for each state, the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories, to honor national parks and sites. Separately, a depiction of General Washington crossing the Delaware River before the Battle of Trenton, not an eagle as the Mint said earlier, will grace the reverse of the quarter dollar when the program concludes.
I always like to pay spot price (or a little tax for the coin dealer) and it is hard to find these fancy coins for spot price.
This is a 1985 canada national park dollar? Is 2010 the first year for national park silver coins in US?
Growing global demand for silver from both the investment and the industrial markets is likely to put a squeeze on available supply. No doubt the long term fundamentals for silver are “more convincingly bullish that they have been for some time,” notes the Silver Book.
It is very true that the demand of silver is growing gradually. This is putting a shortage on the supply, and hence new coins are being minted. Silver is a good area of investment. Thanks to other mates here who pasted new coins image. Will surely think to own those.
The United States Mint made a re-launch the five ounce America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ on Friday, December 10, 2010. That was four days after the agency halted their release following price complaints from consumers who argued the $120 to $160 per coin premiums advertised in the market amounted to price gouging.
America the Beautiful Silver-Bullion Coin Program is “similar” to the America the beautiful Silver Quarters Program, but I don’t think that these new ones have a face value of 25 cents.
So do you think it is scam.I may not invest in silver bullions for next six months. I have heard silver prices likely to come down.
The increasing demand for silver is being seen all over the world, the ones who react to it the first will get the highest portion of the pie, and the people reacting just because of the bandwagon effect wont be able to make much profits , as much as they would like to .
