Yeah i agree to that collecting,valuing and keeping precious metals especially gold and taking care of it, It is like teaching them to save in a coin bank but much more rewarding in precious metal.
You have to watch out for thieves. Coins like to go missing when you are not looking. I think they grow legs and walk away.

Coin collecting can be both enjoyable and profitable. If you would like your children to build a valuable coin collection , Ask them to read and learn as much as they can about the hobby.
First they should know the face value of the coin then the metal value and the collectable value I would say at least 8 to 10 years old.
I agree with you, but one should also teach their children about the storage part of coins because bad storage may result in wear and tear of the coin and other damages too.
