My grandfather used to collect old currencies and setup his mini gallery about coins in his own house but after he died he donated the rest to a charity for good and the rest to my family. We sold a couple of silver rounds and eagles couple of months ago from a collector on eBay. They sold well
Never sell old coins for low cost. Sell it at a demanding price because those are valuable collections. Those are rare and the more old it is, you get more price. Moreover, I feel that selling it at some exhibitions will fetch you more money then selling through eBay, as Eufor had sold.
Yeah i have been advised to get silver coins by my dad, he says as they get old you can get the price that you want. it doesnt only covers the inflation but gives you capital gains aswel .
Yes I collect. I've collected for around 10 years now. I found pre-WWII metal pennies to be pretty awesome. They're rather cheap, and in a few hundreds years will most likely be worth a lot! I also collect a lot of foreign coins from the early-late 1900's.
I coin collect it is a really fun hobby. I like to do something called Coin Roll Hunting (or CRH) as a hobby. Its where I go to the bank ask for rolls of "x" coin and I look for key dates errors and even silver coins (Pre 1964 coins- United States Quarters and Dimes were all minted in 90% pure silver.) But yes coin collecting is a very fun exciting hobby for me. Why did you decide to sell your coin collection?
.............................. in a few hundred year (ponders),,, (sigh) seems like i aint goin to make profit of my coins during that time,,, i couldn't possible live that long.. tsktsk
