Got a bit obsessed with the 2014 Shades of Nature $5 Honey Bee from CIT.
A pic of my beehive and an interloper, Marine Life protection which looks much better
in real life than in the photo. IMG_0177.JPG (3).JPG IMG_0178.JPG (3).JPG

Looks a lovely coin. Not sure why, but does not seem to be available in UK at any of the main suppliers.

They come up on occasion at fair ($60-$70) on ebay.. I've also stopped buying, so the prices might be lower than they were..

I bought some to admire for my old age, and some as an investment. I've noticed that first editions of series tend to spike in value in subsequent years, when 2nd and 3rd year versions come out and people scramble for the first year which is no longer available.

I use the Zombucks as evidence, as well as the Rwanda African ounce, with the 2008 Gorilla now going for in excess of $300.

I hope you get a chance to buy one or two, only 2000 were made, but there seem to be dealers in Italy, Germany and Canada who have most of the supply.

Some new big hand-poured bars/loafs from a mint I've not seen anyone talking about. Vulture Peak Mines in Tombstone Arizona! They sell on eBay, but for slightly less at their own website. I made a test order and received these this week. The have several different sizes and shapes. At about $24 per oz. delivered, it is not the cheapest, but not too bad either. Without looking at the last image, can you guess the sizes?

Above top is 10 grams, then 1/2 ounce, then 2 ounces.

Here they are with a quarter for perspective.

I guessed 1/2, 1, and 2 oz, based on the wood grain detail beneath the loafs/bars/lumps/blobs. Going to check out their web site now. :woot:

ETA: I think I'd like their rounds more if their logo had a vulture on it like the one on their web site. That would be cool!

The ten ounce bar on their web site looks nice:

I'd be grateful for some opinions to help my perspective please.

I just won a 2008 Philharmonic on eBay that was described as "Coin does have some 'milky spots' and is in circulated condition."

It arrived today and I understand that it is a bullion coin and therefore not perfect. I'm of the opinion that the coin pictured does not meet that description and have raised a dispute. What do you think? Am I being unreasonable? Would you ask for a refund?

I don't know if it's dispute worthy. It's probably a small difference in perspective and/or wording. "Does have some 'milky spots'" vs. "Mostly milky". But circulated is certainly accurate.

I agree. I read somewhere that pattern is from cooling and because it looks interesting, they allow it to happen rather than take steps to minimize it.

    s
those are cooling rings from a hand poured bar. I do not have 1 of these yet. someday in the far future. there are collectors of hand poured bars and collectors that have crisp shiny bars.
