Just thought that I would share this with you folks....I have this "Coin" ....1986 American Gold Prospector , did a bunch of searches , and all the ones that I found were either Silver or gold plated ..Mine is pure gold and marked as such "1/10 troy ounce 999.99 fine gold" right on the back ...I have looked and looked and have not found another that is pure gold and not silver...Has anyone else seen one that is gold ? Mine is set in a 14KT nugget ring, and I wear it everyday
Interesting. It looks to be a exact copy of the silver ones, simply replacing the word silver with the word gold. I have never heard of such a engelhard coin, but it sure is cool. I love that you sport is as a ring. Kinda makes me wanna get one of those 1 kilo silver coins and use it as a necklace
It was verified as being real, pure gold ....As I said , I have NEVER found another one anywhere or even on the web
I imagine its made by engelhard it was just probably not a very popular piece, at least not in comparison to all the silver prospectors they made.
Don't know if you are still watching this thread or not, bigpineguy, but I just posted this and thought you'd be interested. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/en...fine-gold-gold-nugget-ring-not-silver.250457/ Wondering if you found out anything else about your ring? Your ring is the ONLY other one identical to mine that I've seen aside from the date of course.
