I identified it by the reverse die crack, not the overdate. ;)

Nice work. Being able to see the luster really helped the look of the coin.

So if you properly clean a coin, it increases the grade and value?

Do any of you ever sigh and think to yourself: "I wish I was El Cheapo." Even occasionally?

I lose money on buys like this almost as often as I make it. That's what happens when you buy aggressively.

Excellent eye and great job, as most all bust halves have been cleaned in early collections.

So this time patience and years of dipping has helped you. How much of a profit do you think you'll make? Just being curious, nothing more. I salute you for making a good coin look better and spotting the overdate in the first place, good work! tmoney.gif

I have to wonder why someone AT'd such a nice coin.

There's no guarantee that anyone did. It's quite possible that the toning was completely natural.

No matter what you can call yourself a coin doc now ;-)

  14. Maybe the PCGS "sniffer" was not working that day. Congrats, TC

The "sniffer" does not detect coin dip. And even it did, coins would not be rejected because of it. On top of that the "sniffer" isn't even used on coins unless they are submitted under the Secure Plus grading tier.
