That's why it's called a custom title after all! What is a Custom Title? I'm glad you asked! - Just to the left of the posts you see the avatars, just below the avatar is the username, and just below the username is the custom title. How do I set my Custom Title? - It's easy. Go in your personal details (link) and you'll find it just below the avatar. What should I use it for? - Well, that's up to you. Something about yourself, something random. You've got to keep it short though, it only accepts 50 characters. Just keep it clean!
I have been trying to do that for weeks. I see other people have some cool sounding nickname and I just seem to have my own, real name there. I tried the directions as stated in the first post, above, and all I see below my avatar is gender, date of birth, and so on.
No she what you are trying to change is your username, that is what you used with your real name. What we mean by, "custom title" is for instance, under your username AKA: your real name, yours says "new member", that is what you can change to what you want, your username you can't.
Ed, look at this - See your avatar there, and underneath your avatar it says New Member. Well, the words - "New Member" - is your user title. And it is those words that you can change, those are the words you can customize if you wish to do so. For instance, look at my avatar, my user title is Numismatist.
GDJMSP: Can't you or Peter do this as moderators? Cancel his account and have him log in as a new member again, without his real name?
First of all, CoinTalk's policy is and always has been that we do not allow user name changes. And even then, only if there are extenuating circumstances. That was established by Peter back in the beginning. As to your question - Peter can, but only Peter can. And we do not delete accounts, not ever. Even when a member is banned his account is not deleted. That said, there is something that I can do to achieve the same result, but it usually takes a couple of days, and the cooperation of the member in question - meaning he has to do things too.
OK, I am willing to "do things too". Tell me what to do. Isn't there a way to send a personal message on this site? This seems to be turning into a thread which might not interest too many people. I guess the "reason" I want to change my user name is to protect my privacy. I must confess that I really do enjoy reading CoinTalk and I have already learned a lot in the short time I have been a member. Hopefully this can turn into a long term thing of benefit.

Sorry to wake up a zombie thread with this dumb question, but how do I start a new thread here? I am really confused. Also, there is this blue box at the top of every page telling me to confirm my account by getting an email, and I have done it about 5 times now, but do not see an email. I've posted on the eBay community forums for a while, but heard good things about this one, so decided to check it out. Sorry. I can't find any posts or threads that help me. Thanks.
read this thread completely and do all it says. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/i-need-to-confirm-my-email-address-how-do-i-do-that.311272/ You can not start threads until you have verified to limit scamming. But when you are verified , at the top blue portion of each forum is a blue box for new thread. Jim
