For this purpose, assume all three options are of equal value:

What would you prefer to have: 7 ounces of Gold, 500 ounces of silver, or $10,000 US?

Take this to the next step. How do you see each option? I see it as 7 American Buffalos, 500 assorted 1oz silver rounds/bars, and 100 $100 bills.

The silver appeals the most to me. I would not want to be handling the gold. Once you have $10,000 in your hands it is not exciting to keep picking it back up and looking at it.

For anyone willing to admit they have all three already what is your favorite?

500 oz silver as long as I could pick the rounds I wanted. Sooo much shiny....*drool*

Cash. Which I'd convert to numismatic metal.

silver because it is most likely to increase in value. (....on the other hand, if i could have a $10,000 bill instead of 100 $100s........:p)

I would split the funds three ways and have equal amounts of each:

    AG as sovereigns
    AU as junk dimes
    FRN as twenties

They have the most cocaine residue? Ah, well, maybe ones in that case...but I digress.

I like $20 for cash in hand since they don't attract attention and are easy to use being that breaking larger can be trouble at times. Practical...

Similar to the other choices I made if you think about it. Relative ease of use and premium control in the case of the metals.

BTW - isaiah58, you forgot the lead category - lead 'bullion' to guard the rest - :O

$10K in cash feels like I'm walking around wearing a big bullseye.

$10K in silver is a big enough pile that it starts to become clutter.

$10K in gold is compact and convenient, but I'm not sure I'd call it "exciting" or "interesting".

Wow, I guess I've gotten jaded...

Well, as far as traveling the gold is the best option. Easy to spread it around your belongings, even in a money belt. No matter where you go you can exchange it. But then I would want fractional's as well for bartering.

For the fun factor I would go with two 100 ounce silver bars & $6k in cash; 20's, 50's & 100's, quantity of your choosing.
Then I'd roll in the money while holding the bars........but I'm pretty crazy..... :)

Gold and Silver are losing value faster than the dollar right now so I would probably choose cash, which I would convert into a stock investment.

I would take the cash and buy a 179x $1 in the highest grade possible, lock it away in my SDB and keep it there for the next decades.

Cash is king. You need it in order to obtain the other two. Exciting is not a word I associate with any of the three choices. To me, investments are more serious in nature than the word implies.

I agree, nothing exciting about any of them. I further suggest if you do find any of them exciting, you might not be making the best investment decisions as you may be making decisions based on emotions rather than logic.

Never did the OP say that it was for an investment. Just a simple, what would you prefer? Obviously none would be a great investment by themselves.

True, but he chose to post it in the Bullion INVESTING Forum, so I don't think it is a stretch to be thinking along those lines
