Possibly the most ridiculous posting on ebay?

I think each of us is arguing a different thing. If a doubled die cannot be confirmed because of the condition of the coin, then I agree it should not be listed. The same goes for your worn down cent example. If it cannot be confirmed as a 1909-S VDB, it should not be listed as such.

I'm still confused, however, what this has to do with the original topic. The doubling of the eyelid is visible in the pictures. Would it still be visible if the coin was G-04? I don't know, but that's beside the point.

You also still have yet to give proof that the coin in the listing is unverifiable as a doubled die...

the proof is simple. with my reaosnably young, 20/20 eyes, and those seller pictures, i do not see any double die. i see a beat up, smooth copper planchet that used to be a lincoln cent.

Yes, I understand and respect that. That being said, I do see the doubling, the seller sees the doubling, and I am sure that quite a few of the members here also see the doubling. Bigrig52 also posted an identifying die marker on this thread. Coupled with the fact that from what I see the doubling is evident in the pictures in the listing (just look where the arrow is pointing), I still stand by his assessment in calling it a DDO. It does take a trained eye to pick out the doubling sometimes, and maybe that is why some people are not seeing it right away.

Wittgenstein said, "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent." A lot of you here should heed that advice. These coins are not only doubled dies, but as has been pointed out, they are correctly attributed. Here's a thread basically slandering a seller and it's based upon nothing but ignorance. You may not collect what is being offered, but there are plenty of people out there who do.

Thanks for helping me out..I don't worry about what people say about my auctions. As it says if they are not pleased with the item(s) they can return them..I try my best to give a good description and picture(s) of the item..I'm not perfect but i try..I think there are just a lot of jealous people because they can't find them..Oh well

first off, if you read what i wrote, here it is again...."well, then i just dont like the seller...for being able to identify coins i cannot" it is a nod to his sharp eye over mine, not an insult. second, knowing how picky and anal some can be here, i tagged it along with an overtly humorous quote to cement the non-offensiveness of the comment, and third, most importantly, i assure you i am not jealous of your $4 coins.

Sorry guys for even starting this thread, I just have never even heard of double die eyelids and I could not see the double die on the images. All I am trying t say is that next time I make a thread that is something as dumb as this. All I was doing was pointing out the fact that people actually buy that kind of stuff and in my opinion it is just ridiculous.

And sorry bigrig52 for making your first day so bad. Hope this thread die's and you will be happy here on CT.
