How do we know if you should be excited if you didn't tell what you paid?

    Melt? Excited
    5 grand? Not so much

If it's real...recent eBay auctions (sold auctions only) would suggest a bit more:

XF40 (these two are the same coin)
(Sold via BO on Oct 10, 2013. Original asking price was $2,000 OBO. Hope they made some money, because they bought it for $1,985 on Sep 28)

    AU53 ($2,136.11 on Oct 10, 2013)
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1932-China-...9712593?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item3a859c3ed1

    MS61 ($3,301.01 Dec 5, 2013)
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-1932-C...8450213?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item1e83b13f25

NGC AU58 (commentary: really?) ($1,468.75, ends Jan 4)

    PCGS AU Details ($1,997.50)

That's why I'm wondering (hoping) that it's real...because this coin is much nicer than all but maybe the MS61.

I know...I would have been happy with the price they list...but it looks like in the real world these are much more desirable. It's getting packaged and sent off to NGC today...hopefully before the storm hits.

I know nothing about these coins, but if it's for real, I think you win cherrypick of the year!

Wow. This is why coin shop owners need to educate themselves on world coins.

Update: I have just gotten an opinion (just that, an opinion) from a very reputable dealer on the Collectors Society boards that the coin is going to turn out to be real and will probably grade somewhere between high AU and MS63.

    Lift, Dragon! Lift with vigor!

FYI: This coin remained so nice because it was in a paper envelope...that was FULLY LABELED. I'm just saying.

Great find! Nothing fake about it, all signs point to legit. As far as grade I think 63 is pushing it, but should have no problem getting a 61 at least.

Officially in "Received" status at NGC. Shouldn't be long now...only coin on the invoice.

Here's hoping for tidings of GREAT JOY...
