Received 4 sets today and all of them are crapola. Definitely previous returns with problem coins and ogp that looks like it was banged around and damaged. All will be returned for refund and I'll but some graded sets. Last time I wait for the end to order.
I also ordered 4 sets (on the first day... 3 hours into the circus of the frozen Mint website). I canceled mine on the very last day to order. I just wanted to cancel 2 sets, but, with the website, you could only cancel it all... so, I did. I mulled over my recent purchases from them and I was never thrilled with the quality I received. With their return policy, original shipping is not refundable and you have to pay S&H plus optional insurance to return. I decided not wanting to play that game... so, I avoid them.
Just got my confirmation that my order shipped today. It was ordered on 06/03/2013...... 3 months ago! Oh well. The sets aren't even for me. I ordered the sets for two friends of mine. My set I received a while back. It was an NGC set from MCM. When I was at the ANA in Chicago, the mint people told me that having the coins wasn't the problem, the problem was that one of their outside vendors was having manufacturing problems with the packaging. The coins were just sitting in a warehouse just waiting to be packaged.
I received mine today and it was definitely worth the wait. Both coins are absolutely beautiful. The packaging looked great as well. I was a little nervous that I would get someone else's returns, but I'm pretty sure that didn't happen.
Mine finally shipped today. I should have them Friday. I hope they are not junk that others have returned.
Mine arrived today. Luckily, I was home to sign for them. Very pleased with the coins. I don't think mine were anyone's hand me downs.
Just got my set yesterday. I'm certainly no grading expert, but they look to be at least 69's. So I'm happy. There was a piece of lint in one of the capsules on one the coins, So had to open it up and remove it. Those airtights sure are hard to open.
Mine too. I always get nervous when I have to open one of the capsules. Luckily it was just a piece of lint and it came off very easily.
I got my order of 4 sets yesterday that were ordered on June 1. They were better than the original 6 sets that I've flipped all ready. I had 1 of the 4 presold to a local here, so the 3 I have I'll sit on for a rainy day and hope we don't see any more enhanced eagles for at least 3 or 4 years. Carry on....
I see no reason to believe that they are shipping inferior quality product to anyone intentionally. It appears that even those who have had to wait are happy with their coins with one exception that I am aware of and that is more likely just the 1 in 1000 that got messed up rather than a conspiracy.
Or it's the fact that the mint does reship returned sets. In 4 sets, I definitely received no 70's, maybe some are 69's. All the enhanced eagles have problems, one had 2 major gashes in the field below the tail feathers. 2 of the ogp's were smashed on all corners. They all went back.
it is entirely possible that they were damaged in their shipment to you and not intentionally re-directed to you after being noted as damaged by the Mint. Try returning them and see what happens. You have NOTHING to lose.
It's also possible that he believes bad things will happen so they do....the mind is a very powerful weapon some use against themselves....just sayin
Mine came today. They look great except for the reverse side of the reverse proof. To the right of the dot between AMERICA and DOLLAR, there is what looks like a hit or rub. It's a spot that appears smoother than the rest of the matte finish. It looks exactly the same and it's in the exact same spot on all four reverse proofs. It would probably cause them to get a 69. I don't know yet if I'll return them for replacement.
I took delivery of mine this week in the UK after a three month wait. I got smashed on taxes as it came into the country but I expected this and since I rarely buy any numismatic stuff and these coins seemed so unique I didn't mind too much and paid up with gritted teeth. Are they MS69s or 70s? I wouldn't have a clue! To my untrained eye they look like they're in great condition, they're beautiful pieces and that's all I care about personally.
Got my set yesterday and I thought the coins looked great. I didn't notice any smell to my box like others have mentioned. I'm glad to finally have this set in hand! Seems like forever since I ordered it.
on 9/12 received email from the Mint stating they shipped a set. I didn't order it guess I'm still on their subscription program. Gotta cancel that subscription. How large is the pkging? Order #: 4173xxxx - 1 Order Date: 6/05/13 Items included in this shipment: 1. 2013 AM EAGLE SILVER 2-COIN SET (WP) (S40) Qty : 1
There wasn't a subscription to the 2 coin set. Either you ordered it or you didn't. If you didn't order it then it just might be an error or technical glitch. If you are getting one, then great....you won't be sorry you did.
I didn't order it. I've been buying graded coins because I don't have room for the Mint packaging. I think the last ASEs I ordered from the Mint was five sets of the five coins ASE sets. Was that 2011 or 2012? Mike
