Hello all - not sure if this has been discussed, but I saw there is a new Zombie friendly currency out there called Zombucks. Contains 1 troy oz of silver - thought it was a great novelty coin and fun way to collect silver. http://www.providentmetals.com/zombucks-walker-1-oz-silver-round.html#reviews Question is - does anyone know the exact weight of the coin? If anyone owns one or has feedback, it would be appreciated. Have a great day!
Exact weight? I have 2 Zombucks and if I recall correctly, one weighed in around 31.22 grams, the other around 31.17 grams (1 troy oz. is roughly 31.1 grams)
They are really clever and look good. The Zombucks Walker is the first of 10 designs that Provident Metals is selling. It is a 1oz Silver Round and they also have a 1oz Copper Round. Looks like it may be a fun set.
@ westcoasting: awesome, thank you. Considering buying a few on ebay, and always worry about counterfeits with this kind of a minting, so knowing the weight is helpful. Provident didn't list makeup of coin beyond that it's silver content was 999 pure at 1oz troy. Thinking about giving one to each of the kids in the family for Halloween!
If I had the money, I'd love to give one of these to every kid that comes by my house on Halloween! But alas, I don't...
That coin looks awesome. I might buy the copper one for fun. The date on the coin in their stock photo says 2017... is that when they predict the zombie apocalypse will occur? lol
I would actually like to see them make this in other metals(gold/platinum/palladium..etc) with other denominations as well...that would be quite a set to have...z2 in copper/z50 in silver and then do like... z100 in palladium...z250 in gold and z500 in platnium or something along those lines...
Since they're relatively new, counterfeits are probably unlikely. If you get them from Provident, you should definitely be ok. They're a decent looking round. No regrets buying mine (then again, I got them for around $22 ).
I got one of the silver and one of the copper with my last purchase from Provident. I like it, and hope to collect the series. Love the mushroom cloud in the background... LOL! Will try and post a few photos when I have a few minutes.
Ok, so since my original post I went ahead and bought 10 Zombucks coins from Provident. A couple of comments about the coins and Provident: First, I was unimpressed with the quality of the minting / strike of the coin. Details were not very clear and there appears to be pitting in the silver. Even in the high res picture posted above you can see that in the image the coin appears grainy - its even more pronounced in person. This is consistent on all 10 of my coins . Wont be purchasing anymore - good novelty item but not for bullion investing in my opinion Provident shipped quickly (good) and included a free coin tube (good) even though I only bought 10 coins, not 20. However, they simply stacked the ten coins in a twenty coin tube, with no packing to take up the extra space (which was half the tube). So when I received the package in the post, you could hear the coins jingling back and forth as you moved/shook the box. This is unacceptable to me - the reason I purchased these coins is for the unique design and look of the coin. I did not want them dented up ("bag" marks), but I can see a few spots where that's likely to have happened. Disappointed with that. Overall a neat coin, but a little underwhelmed by the whole experience. Giving a few to my nephew and my two boys, otherwise I'm done. Going back to my beloved ASEs and Morgans. Just my 2 cents - have a great day!
I believe they are stopping mintage on the walker design in October, so hopefully that means the next design is coming soon.
There is an option on their site to be notified when each new item in the series is released. I forget where it was, but I know when I ordered mine, I signed up to be notified when each new item was put on sale.
i just put in an order for one of each...gonna try and get a set going...maybe see if I can make a custom display for them or something.
I would echo hotpocket's sentiments on the quality of the rounds. Mine had a very weak strike and lacked detail. Love the idea, but the quality is lacking.
Just received the order I put in...pretty quick. The rounds actually look pretty decent to me... http://www.cointalk.com/threads/scrapping-for-silver.222639/page-9
