Got the package this afternoon and the return address on the box is from PCGS? What on earth is PCGS doing shipping me coins rather than the US Mint? Skullduggery afoot here? Am I getting PCGS prescreened coins?
It's probably a reject from one of the big dealers. Unless it is PBGS, in which case that's the company that handles all the Mint's fulfillment and shipping.
my bad. It is PBGS. Getting old with bad eyes and seeing conspiracies all around. But, doesn't mean there aren't there.
It happens........but I tell you what, this thread was one typo from me grabbing some popcorn and a six pack, and sitting back to watch the fireworks had that set really been sent by pcgs
It's not the mint's acronym. It belongs to a private company, the Pitney Bowes Corporation. The mint has a contract with them to package and ship the mint's products.
Yeah, but it's the mint's contractor (kinda like PCGS). You know, this may be a way for the mint to save time & money. Why not just have PCGS send us the big guys rejects, rather than return them to the mint first?
You won’t find an actual contract, yet they’re all in cahoots with one another, the mint, the tpg’ers & the big buyers – they’re all looking out for one another and benefiting from it. Didn’t the percentage of 70’s for these sets drop significantly after the little guy started submitting them? Someone posted they went from over 50% 70’s to around 33% 70’s.
I don't know, why's the ratio of 70's falling so much? Maybe you got lucky. The bottom line is the mint does send out previous returns, if they deem them acceptable.
Yup, you can never be too careful! That's why I started wearing aluminum hats years ago..........they offer full mental security, are a great fashion statement and an investment in metals! Sure they called me crazy but at least the Mint can't read MY thoughts.
For the reverse proofs, more than 70% of those graded by PCGS are 70s (according to the current pop report).
