I decided to pull the trigger on purchasing this after seeing the auction with less than an hour left last night. I am a little worried that I am missing something about them as this sold for about half of what other comparable sets are selling for. How do you guys think I did on this? Is there anything specific to this series that I should look for to help spot fakes? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-2013-A...scCsW2WBOO8ENT%2F3J38%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc I just began assembling my Kookaburra set last week. My initial goal was to get one of each year in an NGC MS69 slab. I have not decided yet if I am going to try to flip this set and make a little bit of money on it to put towards slabbed kookaburras. Some of them are quite pricey. My other option is to just start collecting another series.
they are nice coins. not sure how you could flip them for a profit. I would rather have the dansco set over the NGC set.
I'm not entirely sure why everyone else is confused on how you can make a profit on this. By my account leaving aside the dansco you pay 28 dollars per kook, which is 5 dollars per coin over spot. Just about everyone of those kooks sells for a hefty premium. The 1990 alone you cant touch for less than 60 usd. Solid deal in my opinion
I agree this is a solid deal. That being said, if your goal is to flip it for a profit I would do it now before Perth Mint decides to reissue old years that didn't hit the 300,000 mintage cap (such as 1992 which can now be had for much closer to spot). There is no difference between the coin except the capsule is round instead of square. If you like the collection, then nice score and enjoy! P.S. Please don't blame me if you sell and the price of silver goes way up!
