Kookaburra with or without snake privy?

Is the addition of the snake privy just a way to get a few more dollars from me or is this a legit thing that people look for. I just wanted a Kook for 2013 but noticed for an extra $12 I could get the snake on it. 50,000 mint vs 500,000. Does anyone know if the lower mint rides up in value at a noticeable different pace as the plain one?

I don't know but 50,000 seems like an awful lot.

I don't know either, but, I regrettably missed a chance to buy them recently via Apmex when they had them for $28 and change.

For the premium involved, I would stick with the regular Kookaburra. The snake is not really a popular creature in the Lunar series, compared to something like the dragon.

It's always seemed to be a gimmicky thing to me anyway. I am a purist and don't like things to be mixed together and cluttered on a coin.

The main thing is to buy what you like the best.

As others have said, 50,000 is not a small mintage. Also, the Perth Mint has, a number of times in the past, increased mintages on various coins if it meant more money for them. They are well-known for creating loopholes to get around a previously "guaranteed" maximum mintage. Happy deciding!
