Yes, while true, I have always thought this was bad law. I understand they are trying to protect "innocent people who become stranded on the road", but really how often does that happen?

I have a good one though. A friend owned an old farmhouse hours away from where he lived. It kept getting broken into, and the damage done was more than the value of anything they were taking. We talked about it, and I talked him into burying a board with nails sticking out behind the house in the driveway. It appeared the thieves were parking there while robbing it so as to not be seen from the road. Sure enough, a few weeks later my friend got a call from a man who claimed he had "some car issues and drove into his house to ask for help" and got all 4 tires punctured. My friend asked for his name, which the idiot gave, and the sheriff was over at his house within the hour.

Even after being arrested for B&E, this guy tried to claim under state law my friend had set an illegal booby trap and sue for damages. Luckily my friend got it thrown out since no person was at risk, but still. I cannot believe the nerve of thieves suing the people they are robbing. I always thought that if you were in the act of knowingly committing a felony you shoudl be judged to have voluntarily given up your "rights".

Good product. My issue with safes, though, is not that. Mine is the seemingly more frequent occurences of home invasions. Nothing is perfect, but I simply would prefer to not have items in my home, (in a safe or not), that others would covet enough to be tempted to pull a home invasion for.

However, if my greatest fear were robbery, I think this would be a great product. I bet you, though, that it would be defeatable with a little planning. There are lots of devices that could interrrupt the signal, if the robbers were any good. A smarter product would be one that warned you if a steady signal were interrupted, meaning that if the door was opened or for some reason the transmitter was not in constant communication with a receptor, an alert would be sent out.

They provide these crooks with a nice law library while they're in the slammer so the smarter ones do a lot of reading. Some are too smart for their own good. Good story Chris........
