  3. I do wonder at times do those whom finds fault with others writing ever think that some were not able to get an education like some did.
I for one had to stop school and help at home due to an ill father.
Then came the war and I was in 1A and couldnt get a hardship so my girlfriend agreed to marry and so on.
I nevered regreted my poor choices and made a life with the use of strong arms and a willingness to work and in time learned many jobs including heating and a/c.
I feel one should hold his tongue or fingers because some are not as blessed as others and writing of words is not a priority to me as it is to some.

If you want to meaningfully convey a message, good grammar and punctuation is of the essence. Despite your setbacks in life, Woody, you seem to be able to coherently get your point across. Others with similar setbacks should be able to do the same.

I was taught that it's rude to correct people...but that's just me. Can't we just post some gold coins?

    @USMoneyLover:

Grammar and punctuation are a courtesy to one's audience. Using it doesn't require a degree in English nor a special vocation to use it, even if you used it incorrectly but attempted to apply it to define and give structure to your message. Being corrected on having not used it, only helps the individual know theirs can be improved and that your audience cares to hear what you initially hoped to communicate.

"Can't we just post some gold coins" you say? Sure but the 'offending' poster didn't just post pictures, they posted a sloppy block of copy which they wanted others to read, sharing a somewhat remarkable discovery story about his coins, but which appeared in atrocious form, and added to several of their other punctuation-delinquent posts throughout the forum. It was quickly identified as laziness learning to use technology, taking the easy route of omitting it all together, making no attempts to learn how to use said technology from one post to the next and further justified it all by their course in life as to why we should accept it. Plus they've so far made no second attempt to correct the original post, simply moving on to do the same things elsewhere.

"Can't we just post some gold coins" you say? Sure, and we have, but why are you adding a commentary if your goal is not to be rude and to only post some gold coins... Your own comment is in itself a indirect way of correcting others, thus you are at as much fault of being rude as you imply others to be through your own utterance.

If you train others to think correcting one another is rude, the sort of world you indirectly create becomes limp, submissive and full of errors. Don't simply fall victim to a perceived sob story from someone who has been called out on a lazy post. Correcting online laziness in posting, aims to improve the quality of the message, just like every thread with a question or story shared about coins without pictures of the coins mentioned. In every such thread a chorus of replies erupts to correct the post deficient in images.

Ultimately, when you use punctuation, you eliminate all this talk, and all of your worry of being rude in whether or not to comment and correct something. Of course we could all only post pictures and say nothing but this is a talking forum, where information is shared and all manner of things learned and corrected on a regular basis.

I can't dispute any of what you wrote, but man you should lighten up a little bit. You really come off as having a giant chip on your shoulder. Life is too short.

I assure you I don't have such a chip on my shoulder and couldn't be more relaxed. In the original posts on this topic, there was a friendly back and forth with the first couple of people chatting about all of this. As it seems I'm coming off in the wrong way, it's probably because I haven't helped convinced people who perceive me as mean in correcting someone otherwise, so here is an all powerful smiley icon so you can perceive me in a better light, hopefully. :)

The reason you come off as having a chip on your shoulder is not the lack of a smiley face. You just typed a 427 word rant to "explain" why you are not posting gold coins and instead correcting some poster for his admittedly awful grammar and my "commentary". If I ran around correcting every moron I met on a daily basis I wouldn't get anything accomplished.;)

My how quickly you descend from your laurels. I suppose since you've decided to descend on me, you are accomplishing a lot by the brevity of time you spend doing so, but aren't you being rude in the process...

As you continue to assert I'm being rude, need to lighten up and have a chip on my shoulder and now that I'm even ranting by counting the words of my composed rebuttal, you only try to draw me into the role of some "meanie" who doesn't sympathize with lazy posters who ritually fore go punctuation and further spin this thread into some drama that you and others chose to tangent away from one of just pictures of gold coins and correct me for correcting one initial post.

That you can't decipher my matter of fact way of expressing from good or mean intentions in doing so, is as much your own poor perception and interpretation through reading as is your inaccurate portrayal of what I must be like, rude or with a chip on my shoulder. As I tried to be friendly before in saying so, you couldn't be more wrong and here's a smile to help you along with the words that are here to reassure you. :)

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg And this my friends is why I chose to ignore and drop this thread until someone revived it cause honestly I also couldn't care a pile of manure about grammar I hated it and didn't care in high school and care a lot less now. As to lazy i work 80+ hours a week it's cause i just plain don't give a .... It don't make the slightest bit of difference in how I make a living cause it has no bearing in making woodwork and joinery and color fit exactly and precisely. It also don't make no difference in the quality of the coins I post

Here's one of my oldest gold coins, 1836. I really don't have any pics of others. I love gold coins over all others but they're still too pricey for me to stock up on. I'll leave that to the collectors with deep pockets. Look at that beautiful date! :D
    Edited to add my 1849.

For the "No Gold" guys in this thread, I figured I'd share something.

I don't have much gold at all. In fact, I have 30 of the 1945 Mexico 2 peso coins. I was able to pick these up for 1% over spot (about $64 each) plus gas money for my guy to go get them, 2 months ago. The reason is that I asked my dealer if he could get them. He called the supplier where he buys his junk silver. They said they just melt them down because there is no real market for them.

This can be an excellent way to buy cheap fractional gold. The coins are 90% gold. They are .0482 troy ounces each, and as stated before, you can often find them for very low premium (of course I'm in Texas so maybe they are more common here). Current spot $61.58 each. Happy hunting!
