I went on Ebay today to see if I could snipe some american eagles for cheap. There are some days and times where you can get them for a decent price, today not being one of them. Not sure what is going on, but I have seen ASE's going for as much as $30 a piece today on ebay. People seem to be on a over bidding binge. Is there something that I am missing for them to be paying almost $8-$10 over spot for these coins. Also in general pricing has been up for most bullion on the site. Last I checked silver spot was $20 right? So whats going on?
Naw, nothing is going on, its just EBAY. You can get all you want from Provident for $24 (less in quantity). There are thin margins are buillion so with the 10-12% "juice" that EBAY charges, it is just not the place to buy bullion.
Ebay bucks were also given out a little over a week ago, I wouldn't mind overspending a bit if it was free.
I looked around, its hard to find bullion items that have ebay bucks included with them. I know some of the world coins did, but the ASEs and other bullion did not.
You can spend the ebay bucks on them. If I earned 50 ebay bucks for a term, I'd spend 30 or so of them on bullion, you're not spending any of your money.
For stuff like ASE's, not sure why people still get them on eBay except if they have no clue you can get them elsewhere. For other silver and 90%, it could be as simple as the convenience. If you don't have anyone you know who sells silver at a good price, especially close enough to you that it's not a hassle to get there, it may be about all you can do. For instance I'm a good 20 miles from my nearest decent LCS and he doesn't sell much 90% period, let alone at a good price. It would cost me about $7 in gas and 2 hours of my time to go buy some. If in quantity, it's worth it, but smaller orders it's not and it's around the same buying from ebay.
