I have a dilemma! I ordered two (2) sets, but I'll be in Colorado by then...address unknown att. The Mint stopped using USPS...they're using UPS now (I hate UPS). Anyway, that means that I can't simply forward my mail. I don't want to cancel my order, but I don't know what else to do.
I would call them and ask them to ship it to an alternate address -- a friend or relative. I got my work address set up as an alternate address so that I don't have to worry about someone being home to sign for things. They sent me a form that I had to fill out and mail back, so it was a hassle initially. But now it is there in a drop down list on the shipping address screen, so that is very convenient.
Edit your address in 'My Account' on the mint web site..... I don't think these are going to ship through UPS, Yak......unless you're getting three of them.
Register for a (free) account at 'My UPS'. They will notify you by email if you have deliveries coming as well as allow you to make changes to those deliveries. The changes can be anything from delivery address to authorize drop without signature.
My order with a shipping date of 7/25 has been changed to 7/11. I also ordered a set to keep for myself, but that first order was six sets to flip. I was thinking of cancelling, but now it looks like they will be First Strike eligible. (Which I agree is stupid and meaningless, but they sell for more.)
I may have to do that...send to a coworkers address in Denver once I get there and find someone that will let me use their address. It's almost not worth the hassle.
Just FYI, allowing UPS to drop without signature is up to the shipper, and the mint does not allow it. Nor does the mint allow delivery address change through UPS. I ran into this issue earlier this year with a mint order. After 3 delivery attempts, UPS holds it at their nearest warehouse for 5 days, then ships it back to the mint. It's best to call the mint and change your shipping address if you can't be there to sign for it. (I believe all this only applies to orders over $300 with upgraded shipping.)
...which is my situation. Even if I change my address to something in Denver, I need to be there...or go to the warehouse in that five (5) day window. I've found that the driver may not return it to the warehouse until after the third delivery attempt. Even if they do, they don't return until after 8 PM. :heated: Compared to USPS...UPS is damn inconvenient! I don't know why the Mint changed carriers in the first place USPS was fine. Perhaps the US Mint knows something about the future of the USPS that we don't know! I may simply call the Mint and tell them to ship USPS or cancel the order.
UPS won't let you pick it up at the warehouse either. I tried to do that on a recent order because I missed the first delivery attempt and like the poster above said, the only one that can change the delivery is the Mint. I got lucky and was able to arrainge to meet up with the driver later on in the day a couple miles from my house and got my package that way.
Do you trust your neighbor? If you do you could leave a note for the UPS driver to leave it with them?
I was wondering if anyone had some idea of what type of coin I have. I have turned the red book upside down, searched the Internet to no end and I haven't found a coin that matches the description of the one I own. I found one selling for high dollars but it does not have the same chin guard or double chin my coin has. My coin is a Gold 1897 Indian Cent with either a chin guard or double chin. Has anyone ever heard of such thing?
