I bought a 1999 Maple Leaf 9999 Silver Round today for a couple bucks over melt. It's in a littleton showpack. It looks like this. (Not the same coin of course).

The showpack adds a ton of bulk to it. Would you leave it in there or not?

    Why take it out?

Protection of a slab without the cost...unless you want to get it slabbed.

Depends on your needs Tim. If size really is a serious constraint, you are not losing much by 86ing this package. My problem is government packaging. When I buy Thai coins sometimes they come in government issued silk boxes. I just cannot force myself to toss them so I can just put the coin in a 2x2. Seems like a waste, but OTOH takes up a ton of room.

Government packaging, to me at least, is harder to just toss. Aftermarket crud like this though? Eh, toss it if you need the room.
