Yesterday my friend messaged me on facebook and said that he for a 1962 quarter in change. I offered $2 for it, and he agreed. Goes to figure that the one who doesn't know, care, or look for silver coins finds one in circulation. But not me, no. still, 50% spot is pretty good, don't you think?
Better than some dealers treating their customers by adding a 50% markup to silver bullion above spot, eh?
In that regard, your friend treated you well. IMO - It's a $4.00 coin. What's $4.00 between friends? He probably would have given it to you if you expressed interest and he had none. If you bought $10,000 worth of bullion from him for $5,000, now that would be questionable.
My friends give me the silver they come across. I offer money but they never take it. We all do so much together it gets back to them one way or another. One gave me a 1924 merc.
C'mon guys $2.00 is a very fair offer between friends. The seller has no interest in coins so he is up $1.75. He probably would have had to burn $3.00 in gas just to redeem his one quarter at a coin store. So the buyer got a good deal, the seller is happy, everybody wins
