2013 Morgan dollars shipped in bad condition

I bought a tube (20 coins) of 2013 Morgan Dollars and they were all scratched/dinged up when I received them. When I contacted the company about it they said it was normal for uncirculated silver bullion coins to have minor scratches and still be acceptable as BU grade uncirculated silver. But then they agreed to exchange the order for coins in better condition. go figure... I haven't received them back yet but I'm just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this type of "uncirculated coin" trouble. I have ordered silver bullion in the past and they were all individually vacuum sealed coins and looked perfect.

Number 1, they are not Morgan Dollars -- they are 1ozt silver rounds.

Number 2, who cares if they are "uncirculated", as their only value is that of 1ozt of silver (regardless of condition)?

it all really depends on who made the bullion. plus as mentioned above they are strictly bullion. i don't think any of the TPG's would even grade them. i wouldn't have even wasted my time returning them

Thanks for that unnecessary and unhelpful post. It seems that you have nothing better to do, well neither do I...

1 - They are sold as 2013 Morgan Dollars, this is why I called them 2013 Morgan Dollars. I realize these are not actual Morgan Dollars because they haven't been minted in 90 years or so.

2 - Obviously I care, otherwise I wouldn't have taken the time to post this thread.

Regarding 2 above, I might suggest that you only buy your bullion rounds in person at a local coin shop so as to avoid the annoyance of needing to return them because they weren't "uncirculated enough" for you.

If they had called them "Morgan double eagles " would you have called them double eagles? It is good to know that you know what they are, unfortunately when they call them something they are not it does confuse non-collectors who DON'T know. Just because they call them by a misleading name doesn't mean that you should too unless you wish to assist in the attempted deception.

    2. OK I can accept that. And now you know that you are one of the very few that does care and that most people see them as only worth the melt value no matter what condition they are in.

You didn't seem to like the honest, factual answer you received so you lashed out and got a rather kind, I thought, response.

I'll suggest you have two problems, 1. You believed you were buying perfect BU Morgan Dollars, and 2. well, that's pretty obvious.

No. The OP has unrealistic expectations for bullion. That is to say, a desire for a perfect or BU coin. That's not what bullion is, by definition. Some of it is pristine, but most from private mints can and do have blemishes...because they're bullion. And nobody cares if they have blemishes. Except the OP.

silver bullion is silver bullion, wether its scratched or not.

Its nice to have em nice and shiny but when it comes down to business it's worth the same.

I think I might just place an order for some bullion and request em just a bit scratched.

It is a bullion round so it doesn't really negatively affect the value.

I seem to recall when Daniel Carr was selling "unique date" coins recently, he produced an MS-64 & an MS-70 version. The idea of the MS-64 was to give collectors a coin that looked real, something that circulated, instead of just a fantasy piece. I'm sure these Morgan rounds were going for the same effect.....

Sorry OP, i guess count me as one of the jerks too. I thought you received clear, concise answers and a correction of the horribly misleading sales puffery of "2013 morgans".

If you want pristine silver rounds, maybe talk to silvertowne. They sell a lot of stuff as gifts, so maybe package them different. However, buying silver rounds in bulk you should always expect some dings and scratches, since not much care is given in the handling of these. Those are simply the facts. I think this board did a great job answering your questions.

You're on a public forum and you are sure to get some answers that rub you the wrong way. With that said, the answers were truthful and correct, I don't know what else you could expect. Just a heads up, any future questions may get the answers you want but we all go through the ups and downs of learning about coins and even bullion. :D

Well, if you happen to own an actual Morgan dollar and you compare it to those bullion rounds you received, you'd probably be very happy with the condition of the bullion. Maybe they were trying to make them look authentic?

Well Silverevils, these answers you received from YOUR post looking for people's thoughts on your so called "2013 Morgan dollars" purchase seem very legit. Seems like your annoyed or angry by comments of this post(above). Are you surprised that somebody does not completely agree with your views of this sale? What were you trying to achieve here if you do not value someone's opinion that's different than yours? Why even start a thread reaching out for other collectors opinions?

Hope your new silver bullion coins are in better condition than your first batch was delivered in...

  21. Remember if you ask for people's opinions there is always the possibility you will get them.
