90% silver pickup

    The reminds me of a story my 4th grade teacher read to my class called The Lighthouse Mystery, which featured a coin dealer buying up old coins from the locals for rock-bottom prices.

    I see really off-color in that coin that is more reminiscent of base-metal alloys (lead-tin in particular) than silver.

    took it to a jewelers and it weighed 27 grams. I let them clean it up because of its butt ugly appearance. Here are the new pics. [​IMG] [​IMG]

    This is incredible. If it's real the blue book is between $70 and $90, with this one being in the $90 range. Why didn't he sell it to a coin shop? It's strange.

    My guess would be that the coin shop guy told him it was fake.
