2013 West Point ASE set

Bad argument. Coins sell for what the number available of buyers are willing to pay for it. Sure more often than not it means defaulting to the issue price, but, many sell for below issue price. We don't hear about these circumstances because these coins weren't marketed towards an audience like us. JMHO.

2013 Set: 140k ordered first day.
2012 Set: 85k ordered first day.

 

I think the 2013 set final mintage numbers will make the 2012 set look very rare and valuable by comparison.

 

They actually are. Just the ordering period is limited.

2013 ASE two coins set should have a mintage of around 350,000 to 450,000 strong.

 

i think you are spot on (no pun intended...or is it pun intended??) about the ASE sets and the impossibility of getting them for cheaper than issue price. however, much of my collection is of canadian silver, many pieces I have procured on eBay for lower than issue price. and i am talking about what i paid the seller, that is not even factoring in the sellers fees, shipping, etc and how little he/she actually ended up with. and we are talking about eBay, its not like people give stuff away on it, there is a huge buyer pool constantly eyeing the supply. i do believe many were just luck in the middle of the night with no one paying attention, but these pieces i list below i got for more than $20 under issue:
2010 Silver Piedfort Maple Leaf
2005 Maple of Hope
2008 20th Anniversary of the Maple Leaf

and a few others i got for a little under were the $20 for $20 canoe and $20 for $20 maple leaf.

why is it the canadian can be snagged for below issue and NEVER with the ASE sets?

and PS, if anyone knows how to get ANY ASE SET FOR UNDER ISSUE, I HAVE CASH IN HAND READY JUST PM ME

 

You are absolutely right about the Canadian coins. I just snagged a $20/$20 Hockey coin graded SP69 by NGC for $28 the other day! Just got it mail today and it looks awesome.

The secondary market prices are definitely controlled by demand more so than supply when it comes to foreign coins. Here in the US, the ASE is the King of modern coins and the demand is relatively greater than supply. Im not going to say that there aren't deals to be had out there and a rare pickup may occur, but this is generally not the rule and happens relatively infrequently. I am on ebay nightly looking for these deals and I just don't see them. I thought I had one the other day when I put a relatively small bid on two PF69UC 9/11 medals graded by NGC. I already had the medals in PF70 but for the price I couldn't pass them up. A few hours before the auction ended, the seller cancels the auction. I knew what happened, so it was no use for me to complain, whether I agreed with it or not.

If you collect foreign coins, especially Canadian sets or Australian sets, deals can usually be found with a little patience.

 

Looks like the mintage is going to be higher then last time on these. But we will see soon.

has anyone noticed that this set contains a West Point Reverse Proof? All of the others are Philadelphia (and 1 S Mint)

ordered mine today.....i'll keep that set in the box then buy a slabbed pr70 of the reverse proof for my collection of proofs

 

I purchased mine on the first day (Thursday, 9 May @ 8:20 PM). My order number was 41511xxx with an estimated ship date of 25 July. Sales in the first 24-hours were 149,622. Here are my assumptions on the sales for this 24-hour period:

Sold at Noon, 9 May to the Big Guys 80k (41400xxx-41480xxx)
Sold on 9 May to Everyone Else 45k (41480xxx-41525xxx)
Sold until Noon, 10 May 25k (41525xxx-41550xxx)

I've estimated these numbers based on the sales number from this site at near noon, my sales number near the end of the first day, and the total sales during the 24 hour period. I'm betting on a July 4th HSN early strike sale on these babies.
